Karin Garvin:

CLASS OF 1982
Annapolis, MD

Karin's Story

Life Wow, 20 years has passed in the blink of an eye. To recap, I graduated in 1986 from West Virginia University with a BA in Political Science. I then went directliy to law school at Wahington and Lee and graduated with my JD in 1989. I clerked for a bankruptcy Judge in Baltimore and then was associated with a law firm in Baltimore for several years. Almost 10 years ago (September, 1992) I married the brother of a college friend and we moved to Jacksonville, FL. My husband, Jim was a Navy pilot (after growing up in Annapolis, I never imagined I would end up a NAVY wife) and we lived in Jacksonville, Mount Vernon, Washington (an hour north of Seattle) and Pensacola, FL. I had a few other careers as we moved around (sales-medical equipment, and temporary and permanent...Expand for more
staffing of accounting professionals) and have come back to the law in Pensacola. I have been practicing since 1997 in Pensacola and will be opening up my own firm in October of this year. My husband has been out of the Navy since 1999 and flys for American Airlines. As with everyone, the events of 9/11 were terrible for us, especially since two of the planes were from American Airlines. Jim was a Navy Reservist and was recalled to active duty in November, 2001, but was released in April, 2002 to resume flying for American. We have stayed in Pensacola (my choice) and it reminds me of Annapolis in the old days. I am pregnant with our first child who is due in April. I am planning to come to the reunion and hope to connect with many of my old friends. See you there!!
