Karin's Story
Life
This has been fun preparing for our 30th reunion. I hope everyone who makes it has a memorable time! I currently am living in Huntington Beach with my husband of 3 years, Vic, our cat Bella, our two chocolate labs, Woody and Jayci and our 8 chocolate lab puppies who were born on July 3rd. I had been living in San Francisco for over 10 years, but moved here after we got married. I have been teaching and coaching volleyball for most of my career. I have taught from pre-school to college level and have coached at the college level all the way down to 10 year olds. Some of my great memories with volleyball are going to the state championship three years in a row here in California (winning it all the first time!) I still play and attend adult nationals every year. This past May we won the 45 and over age division by defeating the former Canadien National team, who had won it all the year before. I have been fortunate enough to be named All-American four times and was MVP in 2002.
This August will be a turning point for my family. We are relocating to Vermont ...Expand for more
and we will be joining Dana Blackhurst at the school where he is headmaster. Pine Ridge is a boarding school that specifically helps children with dyslexia that would like to attend college. I will be a Dean there and my husband will also be on the staff. We are looking forward to the beauty of Vermont and are preparing for snow again (after 15 years of sunny California!).
Life is always an adventure in my book, so here goes another chapter!
Preparing for snow was an understatement! We have had two big snowfalls already, each leaving about a foot of snow! We have snow drifts 10 to 20 feet high around campus. The dogs are absolutely loving it. They get just as much enjoyment out of the snow as they did the ocean! I have yet to put on my skis, but our Christmas vacation is coming very soon, so I will have more time to play. It has been an experience beyond words up to this point. I have learned much, but still have SO much to learn. I am ready for vacation and hope that anyone who reads this has had a wonderful 2007 and will be excited to see what 2008 may bring!
