Karl's Story
Life
I was born in Gardner Ma, in 1942 and moved to Vermont at the ripe age of 6 months. I still consider Vermont as my home even though I have not spent much time there since graduationg from SHS in 1960. My most remembered teacher is Mr. Carr. I really gave him fits when in school. I really did respect him even though I gave him a hard time. I was stationed in Maryland for 6 1/2 years, Tennesse for 5 1/2 years and the rest of my military career was spent in California. After completing my military career I went back to school and got a BA in BS (Behavior Science) with a focus on chemical addition. I finally realized that I was an alcoholic in 1972 and got clean and sober. I have four children 1 in Ohio, 1 in Pennsylvania and 2 in Maryland. I am currently married and Fredda and I live with our 2 pets a golden named Brandy and a cat named Tiffany.
My current health is good. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2002 and now weigh less than I did when I was at SHS.
My current plans are to work about another 8 years and then leave California. We have not decided where at this time.

Workplace
I spent 28 years in the US Navy. Following the completion of my Navy career I worked for Episcopal Community Services and a supervisor and counselor in a convicted drinking driver program for 13 years. I got tired of that and in 1999 I went back to school and got a masters degree in educational technology and a multiple subject teaching credential. I have worked for the San Diego Office of Education teaching or trying to teach teenage juvenile offenders who are wards of the state. A very demanding and challenging job. It is never dull or boring and changes sometimes by the minute. I drive almost 100 miles round trip each day to work as the facility is located in the mountains East of San Diego.
Military
I enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation from SHS. I was trained as an Avaition Electronics Technician. I served in 5 different squadrons during my career, Patrol Squadrons 49, 30, and 44. Carrier Early Airborne Warning Squadron 113 and Fighter Squadron 213. I also server 3 tours of duty as an instructor teaching electronics and various different levels.
