Karl's Story
Life
Took 3/4 of a year off from high school and entered the Air Force in April 88. Went to Okinawa for 4 years, then to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for 2 1/2 years, then back to Okinawa for another 5 1/2., then to Korea for 1. Currently in Tokyo since 2001. Had fun at the twentieth reunion and look forward to seeing everyone again. My personal stuff (yearbooks included) went into storage container when i left the first time for Okinawa and my dad forgot to pay the container fee. Long story short, all my stuff from high school is gone. Pretty sad. I haven't looked through a yearbook in almost 20 years. Retired in April 08 after 20 years of Air Force service as a Master Sergeant. I was an Assistant Fire Chief of Operations/Hazmat/Special Operations including four trips to the desert. Obviously as you can see growing a beard was a priority after service. I taught English to Japanese students in Tokyo for an international school and really enjoyed it. Currently I'm a hotel maintenance man at Yokota Air Base in West Tokyo, and have been in this position about fourteen years. I lov...Expand for more
e vehicles and own 83 and 92 Harleys, 65 and 71 Vespa scooters, a 41 Indian 841 and a 69 Camaro. Still running, inline speedskating and have participated in many marathons/triathlons/distance mountain running events. I teach ski/snb. Want to build an ultralight and fly it, and work on vehicles after semi-retirement. I'm married with twin 17 yr. old boys and a 27 year old daughter from my first marriage. My twins currently run for Yokota High School. Saw Larry Gombos (pole vaulter, class of 89?) in Okinawa (Marines) and it tripped me out. Enjoyed the "all years" x-country reunion. Karl.

My crush will remain secret. Mr. Weissman in English inspired me but also belittled me so i guess there's a balance there? Ironic I taught English before, maybe his pressure on me was a good thing or foreshadowment? I wouldn't do it all over again, once was enough. My friends on my cross country/track teams, and a few close friends i will never forget and i remember spending time with them like it was yesterday. This current state our world is in will pass. Good guys win in the end.
