Karl's Story
Life
Moved to California,started college,and worked as mountain shop rat directly just after high school. Climbed the west coast big wall classics, skied the seirras and lived the lifestyle. Then I realized that I was too
comfortable pushing the limits,I
was having too much fun,and burning too many brain cells. I
moved back to Southwick, worked as a shop rat at Mt.Tom, and 3rd shift at Big Y, took some classes at HCC and did a lot of mountainbiking,skiing, climbing and fishing.
By 91 I moved to Sitka Alaska worked in commercial fishing,Multi-sport guiding and in the end earned Bachelor's degrees in Fisheries Science and Natural Resource Management. I've worked for the Forest Service, Alaska Dept. Fish and Game, The Pacific Halibut Commission, NSRAA, and as a self employed fisheries biologist. I also tie flys for the local Yuppie Fly Shop. Through my work I've traveled throughout Alaska, spent a winter as a white minority at an Inupiac Village above the Artic Circle. I'me avid backcountry skier, mountainbiker, ice climber, subsistance hunter and fisher and Fly fisherman. I Like to raft, canoe, and kayak sometimes, but usually prefer a small skiff with a big engine to get far away from town.

I've been spending less time in the bush working, but know that she's getting older I'll probably be going back more. I'lle take the desk job when I can't take the woods and water anymore. Its funny as I've pulled out of the wilderness work I'me back into skiing and biking steeper lines and goat hunting. Alaska's changed with the yachts, yuppies, and ecotours but the farther you get away from town, the hot springs, and the resorts, the less likely you are to see nimrods. If your ever in Sitka look me up; I know most of the guides and outfitters personally at least the ones whove been here more then a couple of years. And if you read this Jarod you mormon hippie freak lets drop some big lines on free heels, drink tequilla till the worm flops out'
burn some cedar, and watch the little snow board punks play extreme from a couple of peaks away. Yeah I fully gave up the single plank and I am free from November to February, and then Sundays and Mondays if I keep the same 2004 project. Is that your little brother in town? I think I'me turning Into a redneck agian all the Patta Gucci Trustafarian long hairs look the same. That goes for all my climbing, skiing, biking, fishing and hunting buddies. Lifes too short and Ive been working too hard.
