Karyn's Story
My life since high school…. I graduated college at CSUN in Art as well as took further art classes in UCLA extension and Otis. I've traveled to parts of Europe in a group and on my own after graduation from college. Later on I traveled to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji -- absolutely beautiful!! At my side for all of this was my camera, sometimes even selling my photos professionally.
I loved Sydney, Australia so much I hated returning to Los Angeles, so I found a city with a similar lifestyle in the States: Seattle, WA. I've now been living here for about 26 years and have worked as a photographer for a magazine and wrote copy, as well as having had various jobs doing desktop publishing and graphics.
Thanks to Classmates.com, I found all three of my wonderful college roommates. The summer of 2008, I finally spent time with the first of the three, all the way from Virginia, up here in Seattle. I've seen the other two many times since I found them and we've had some fun new memories to share.
I'm glad I traveled beyond the borders of this country while I was young enough to fully enjoy the experience. I hope to travel again, but meanwhile I'm living in my Lake Forest Park house near Lake Washington, busy doing countless things I didn't have the means or opportunity to do before now.
Since I first wrote this I've traveled back to Australia for six weeks, then again for three weeks as well as vis...Expand for more
ited Paris to see my relatives who were born and raised there. This time when I traveled, no hostels and visited a truly Australian city called Broome in Western Australia! GORGEOUS!!! Humid, crazy weather, palm trees, camels, unusual landscape, a sunset where the sun seems to drop in moments, and buildings that were one-story with some typical Australian details of verandas while others were nothing unusual. I spoke to an Aboriginal man who has a lot of strong feelings about the changes in HIS land. I feel for him, but it's impossible to stop change, not anywhere. Yet since I first wrote this profile, the monolith once named Ayers Rock had now returned to its name Uluru as those who discovered it prefer. Finally!!
Meanwhile, time feels to be moving quickly as well as standing still because of this pandemic that seems never ending. I don’t always agree with science regarding certain medications but I’m willing to take chances for the good of the world and have been vaccinated, 3X.
Meanwhile, off to SoCal for a short while to visit friends and family over the holidays. I hope people here are doing well, especially during these uncertain times. We’re all aging, seems some age faster, some have had a lot of help to stay looking youthful, some haven’t made it this far or aren’t doing well. Life moves onward, some things change, some never do. Thanks for reading this, have a great rest of your life….
