Kate's Story
HI all! I moved to Port in fall 1971 from Brussels, Belgium. I attended Weber (9th) grade and then Schreiber.
After graduating (1975), I went to Brown University. I majored in Math, but I spent most of my time with my other love, music. For several years, I ran the Brown Concert committee, and also worked with concert promoters throughout Providence for extra cash (and to learn the trade). Upon graduating, I got a full time job in the music biz. Those were great times, but crazy times as well. By 24, I was yearning for a bit more structure, so I moved on to Columbia University to get my MBA in Finance. After a 3-year stint at CBS TV, I joined Citibank, where I remained for 23 years. I loved my time at Citi, and I owe them a lot. I worked in 40 countries, implementing risk scorin...Expand for more
g systems and helping local businesses to maximize revenue using analytics. Not incidentally, I also met my husband, Richard Whitney, at Citi. In my final 3 years there, I was located in London, where Richard and I went through the financial crisis at our respective banks; he was then with Santander. More crazy times! I guess no one said it would be easy. But we sure learned a lot!
I left Citi in 2010 to form a consulting firm with my husband, here in NYC. Weâve really enjoyed being our own bosses! But, these days, we spend most of our time on the other things we love: family, and travel. We have two wonderful grandchildren in France (who are about to relocate to Cambodia). Looks like weâve got even more travel in our future! Life never ceases to be international. Or fun!
