Katherine's Story
Life
I am doing well, enjoying my home and my life with Luke. We are approaching our 7th wedding anniversary, after over 12 years together!
We added a new addition to our little family - a baby girl who we love and adore, born on October 1, 2006! To celebrate the addition of our little girl to our family, we purchased a cottage on a chain of 7 lakes about 4 miles from our home. We plan to spend much of our summer there and possibly rent it out for others to enjoy.
We used to spend most of our time working around the house; now we spend as much time as possible with our little girl. We finished construction of our library - its beautiful (Luke does such great work!). We have also started building a 3 car garage with a 2 bedroom apartment on the upper level, where friends and family can stay comfortably when visiting us. Construction will complete next year and furnished late next year or the following spring / summer.
We also have 10 acres in the UP with a small, rustic cabin on the snowmobile trails. We enjoy winters up there, where we ride all over, from Newberry, Paradise, Pine Stump Junction, Grand Marais, McMillan, Curtis to Manistque. We finshed building the bath house on the property.
All in all, I am very happy! I love travelling, but my home is my favorite place to be. It's peaceful and remote, very warm and cozy.
College

tayed in Gamla Stan, Old Towne Stockholm which was just amazingly beautiful. The Baltic Sea was truly a sight... So many islands... it took hours to make it to port! So beautiful, that I didn't go to sleep until after 4am and was up at 7am, hoping not to miss too much! I visited City Hall, where the dinner is held for the Nobel Prize. Helsinki was great fun and of course, very beautiful! My only regret is that I did not have time to enter into the Arctic Circle while in Finland.
Additionally, I have my BS degree from EMU where I completed the standard 4 year requirements and an additional 1.5 years in their College of Education. Prior to that, I studied Pharmacy as planned at Ferris State University. Surprisingly, the idea of doing research over the duration of my career without (potentially) the success of discovering and developing a cure for cancer was something I didn't think I could live with... So I found other avenues to keep myself connected and contributing.
As you can see, I've spent a great deal of time in school; I just can't seem to stay away.
Workplace
Currently working full-time for Thomson as a Project Manager, primarily supporting our corporate initiatives.
In addition to this work, I teach at Eastern Michigan University and at Baker College, although I've scaled back on this now that I have a baby.
Prior to this work and immediately following undergrad I worked 5 years with Parke-Davis Warner / Lambert, then Pfizer, Inc. What a wonderful experience! I chose not to relocate to New Jersey after the acquisition of Pharmacia, and accepted a severance package, separating from the company in 2003.
