Kathey's Story

Life I was married for 27 years, but divorced in 2009. I have a wonderful adult step-daughter that I love as though she was my own. My granddaughter, Felicia is 21 and a dental assistant. My grandson, James is 19 and taking college courses. They all live in Kendall, New York. Worked as admissions director at our local hospital for 20 years until July 1998. From then until Dec. 2008 I worked for Center For Urology which was right down the street from the hospital. 30 years of only having to travel 16 miles roundtrip to work-I was very lucky. I unfortunately have not been able to obtain gainful employment since moving to Florida. Plenty of medical positions, but plenty of unemployed folks also. So I may be relocating before long. Dick is in remission thanks to God's plan. I would hate to have to leave here , but financially I can not stay where I can't get a job. So only time will tell. If you would like to include me in your prayers, I would greatly appreciate it. Ricky is still growing each day- he is 16 mo old now. Very handsome pup if I say so myself. He brightens each and every day. I hope that each and everyone one of you and your families have health and happiness. I am looking forward to our 40th reunion next summer. Hope to see many of you there!! 7/28/2011 The last six months have brought many changes. Saddly Dick came out of remission in January and passed away in April. It was a hard decision to make, but though my legal address is still in Florda, I am pursuing employment in Upstate New York. Hopefully I will find a position soon, so Ricky and I will have our own home again. He is 2 1/4 yrs old now and just a delight. My family has been wonderful and I appreciate being able to stay with several of them, but do miss having my privacy and my own furniture and things, I hope that doesn't sound selfsh, it isn't meant that way. I am just trusting in God to get through each day and ajust to life without Dick. I am thankful for the time we had together, but I miss him terribly. Well, I will close for now. Hope to see everyone at the reunion, won't be long now. 10/01/2012 I have a beautiful Great Granddaughter, Paetyn Caroline who arrived since I last updated my profile. She is a joy and provides us with lots of smiles and laughter. I had been at West Ridge OB/GYN for the last 13 months, but lost my job three weeks ago. So I am once again looking for gainful employment. Ricky and I have our own apartment in Charlotte, at least we do for now. I go down to Bradford to check on Dick's grave as often as I can. I still miss him terribly, but Ricky and I rely on God to get through each day. Dick's sister visited from Tampa last month and I really enjoyed it. I miss my Tampa friends a lot. Other than that, there is nothing much new with me. I hope you are all healthy and happy. God Bless, Kathey 12/27/2014 I hope that this finds each and everyone of you having enjoyed a Joyous Holiday Season. I have been working for Unity Family Medicine in Spencerport since April of 2013. It is a good group of people and the majority of the secretaries are my age. Far less drama than when working with a group of youngsters. We are a hospital owned practice. Our health system (Unity) just merged with Rochester General's Health System, so we are now Rochester Regional Health System. We have lost some benefits, but other changes have not come to fruition as of this time. It is early in the merger, so I am sure that there will be more changes to come. Ricky is 5 1/2 now and still keeps me going. We have moved out to Clarkson from Charlotte to a duplex instead of a complex. We have open farm fields across the street from us. My neighbor in the other side of the duplex is teaching Ricky Spanish. He seems to understand her directions which is quite amazing. I am closer to work and my family, so that is nice. My ex-husband and I are friends. We speak often and do attend functions together once in awhile. It is nice that we have been able to forge a friendship with boundaries that we both respect. It is almost 4 years since Dick passed away, but my heart is still broken. I do not think it possible that I will ever be the person I once was, but I try to take each day as it comes. I do hope that 2015 will bring health and happiness to you and yours. May God continue to watch over all of us. Kathey November 20, 2015 I do hope that this finds each and everyone of you well. encerport, New York. Though I enjoy my job and co-workers, I have some tough decisions to make. My immune system has been malfunctioning a great deal more the past year. Working daily with ill patients is not the wisest situation to place myself in anymore, I am contemplating taking my social security early and semi-retiring next year. That way I would be able to work part time to supplement my income. Time will tell. I moved to Hilton, New York last May to a senior citizen complex. I lived in the same complex the year before I moved to Florida. It is one floor, has a garage and is peaceful. There are only 18 units, so I was on a waiting list for three years before one opened. It is only 15 minutes from work so has been ideal. I have always liked the Village of Hilton. It has charming old houses and friendly people, a lot like Jamestown. Ricky is doing well. Enjoys the Chipmunks here that like to tease him. He was use to squirrels, but we never lived where there were chippers before. We had a wonderful addition to the family in September. My second Great-Granddaughter, Makeala Ann arrived. Big sister, Paetyn dotes on her.baby sister. She is a little protector, making sure we all know how to hold her and burp Makeala correctly. If you don't pass Paetyn's test then you get a few lessons from her. Luckily I did pass. I still take life one day at a time. I know in my heart that I will never stop feeling the loss of my best friend and soul mate. It has been almost five years since Dick passed away, but my heart is as broken today as it was the day he passed away. Dick's sister and her husband spent a week with me in October. We hadn't seen each other since her visit back in 2012. I am thankful for my family and friends and the support that they offer me. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and the Merriest of Christmas's. Hope to see as many of you as possible at our 45th Class Reunion on June 25, 2016. God Bless, Kathey May 10, 2016 I hope that this finds many of you planning on coming to our 45th Reunion June 25th. Only 45 days away now. I did have to make a decision about work and my malfunctioning immune system. I officially retired from Unity Family Medicine on March 1, 2016. It is a struggle financially , but I am seeking a part time position to supplement my social security. Hopefully I will obtain a job soon. Meanwhile Ricky is getting use to me being home. That is good and bad. Ricky turned 7 March 16th and I do not know what I would do without him. My family has had a trying time, but are still hanging in there. My daughter and son-in-law were hit by a drunk driver in December. They are still dealing with their injuries from that. As many of you know, there are so many complications from motor vehicle accidents. If you weren't already stressed enough from the injuries, there are the insurance issues to iron out. I wish that life was not as complicated as it is, but we live in different times now for sure. On a happier note, my great granddaughters are good. They are both adorable and bring all of us much joy. Dick's niece and her best friend from Colorado spent several days with me in March. It was so nice to have some time to catch up with Sharon. I am looking forward to being with the entire family very soon. Sharon's youngest son is getting married this month in Philadelphia. We keep in touch, but it is hard to get together when we live in Florida, Colorado, Minnesota and I live in New York. The only missing link will be Dick. I know that he will be watching Kyle and Amy from heaven, but what I wouldn't give for him to be there. This is probably not the correct venue to mention this, but: If anyone is looking for plots to buy in Sunset Hill, I have two for sale. Please email me and I will send you the details. Thank You. Well, I look forward to seeing many of you either at the evening get together Friday the 24th of June or at the official reunion on Saturday, June 25th. Until we meet again, God Bless. Kathey 08/10/2016 Just A Quick Update: I am working part time as the afternoon medical secretary for Chiropractic Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation, Inc. in Gates, New York. I have been there almost a month and so far so good. Has turned out to be a few more hours than expected, but Ricky is dealing. Social Security just wasn't paying the bills and it gave me more time to miss Dick. Neither of those are positive things, so back to work I went. Hope all of you are well. God Bless and take care. In trouble with the boss again for the late bedtime.
I decided to go to bed early last night, so turned in at 11:15pm. Fell right asleep and wide awake at 1:00am. So now I will try again to get some sleep after being up two hours. Someone was not happy that I disturbed him ge
