Kathey's Story

Life Lived in Australia for 18 years, but missed "home" too much to stay, I left Australia in 2012, returning home to Murphys CA. I met and married "the boy next door" in 2013, and we moved to Hiawassee Georgia in May of 2016 - we absolutely love it here! Life hasn't been easy, but it's been good - I mourn my losses, but count my blessings, and I've been blessed in so many ways. I still have my 28 yr old son Josh, and we're looking forward to him coming here to Oz in Feb '06 - I can't wait !!! Hopefully, he'll bring me some good ol' American food - the longer I'm here, the more I crave a taste of home! You can't get decent Mexican food anywhere, and when you can find American food, it's so expensive that you can only treat yourself rarely. Even Cheerios sell for over $16 a box, and Fritos are $7 ! gotten cheaper though, with more and more Americans moving over here, but that's not necessarily a good thing. It's only increased the amount of anti-Americanism that was already well ingrained in this culture, and I get sick and tired of feeling the brunt of ill-will caused by not only the Iraq war, but by the 2nd WW for that matter ! I could go on and on, but I already feel like I'm dealing with the politics more than I wish to... so enuff said! Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing about any upcoming Reunions - it's been a long time since I attended the last one in '92, and I'd love to catch up again with so many of you. Please get in touch - I'm a lonely American living in a lonely land !! P.s. anyone willing to send me American goodies that aren't available here ? Maybe we can work out a swap !
