Kathleen's Story
Had a daughter, Catita, in August 1978 while living in Redding. Got married to Ed Bowen, on Shasta Dam, in July 1983.
Moved to Virginia. Got Guillian-Barre' Syndrome and became totally paralyzed in March 1984. Was in hospital 11 months and 28 days. Took 4 years to gain back all my muscles, etc...
Moved to Grass Valley, CA (love that place!) around 1989. Became LDS. Ed worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, I worked as an operations manager for a plastics manufacturing plant. Ed hurt his back and had to have several surgeries and also became diabetic, finally became retired.

Moved to the area we live now in 1999. We live about 2 hours east of Redding, off Hwy 299E. A small community.
Was working as a sign language interpreter for the schools until Nov 2007 when I again got Guillian-Barre- and ended up paralyzed. I am now (4.28.09) in a wheelchair, improving almost daily. I can even walk some, although my gait is like a toddler learning to walk.
Life is good and I am happy. I love to travel and have been blessed with being able to do some: Spain, Greece, Honduras, Guatamala...Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, Yosemite, ...
Am currently (4.28.09) in AZ visiting high school classmates. Some I hadn't seen for more than 30 years. Cool, huh?
