Kathleen's Story

I've been married to Jeff Chambers for the last 38 years and we have three sons; Jeffery, Dustin and Kristopher. We also have two grandsons, William and Hunter. No daughters or granddaughters to be found! Bummer! In 1987, shortly after the birth of our youngest son, Kristopher, I decided to go back to school. I earned an A.A. from Butte College and thereafter transferred to CSU, Chico where I majored in Political Science as I wanted to go on to law school after graduation. Therefore, after earning my B.A. In 1990, our family moved to San Diego where I attended the University of San Diego, a small private catholic university. What a great experience law school was! In addition, living in San Diego was fabulous! I graduated with a Juris Doctor of law in 1994 but missed passing the ca bar exam by 14 out of a possible 2,000 points the following summer. Sadly, "life" happened shortly thereafter and I never did get back to studying for or taking the ...Expand for more
ca bar exam again. But what a fabulous ride attending law school in beautiful San Diego was! In 1996, Jeff's dad passed and we moved back to Northern California. We bought a home in Elk Snout (a.k.a. Elk Grove) which is just south of Sacramento. Jeff continues to work as a gradesetter for the Operating Engineers Local 3 Union while I stay at home to care for both our oldest and youngest sons. Jeffery and Kristopher were born with an unbalanced chromosonal condition which caused them to have significant developmental disabilities. Our middle son, Dustin, fortunately was able to grow up and fly the coop after high school! He continues to live near us in lovely Elk Snout. We have many good memories of Chico and still visit our families often. However, on days like today that will reach 105 degrees, I wish I could click my heels together and say "take me home to San Diego" where the average temperature is a balmy 68 degrees. The end! I
