Kathleen Duran:  

After High school I worked at the local A&W as a car hop for that summer. Then I landed a job as a long distance operator with Mountain Bell. I enjoyed that very much and would often volunteer to work with the Air Force Academy operators patching Mars calls all over the United States that were coming in from Vietnam. That lasted a year then I decided I wanted to try something new. I then started working as a secretary for the Small Business Assoc. with the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region. That lasted until their funding ran out and was not renewed. I attended Elpaso Community College for a couple of semesters. Worked at Western Forge for two years starting in plating and working my way up to quality control inspector in the plastics division. I worked there for two years, then joined the Army. My assignments took me to Pesidio of San Fransico, Louisville, Kentucky, Germany Pirmasens and Nurenburg, Ft Carson, and Ft Ord, Ca. After getting out of the military in 1989 I came back to Colorado Springs and started working at Pikes Peak Mental Health Center, wearing many hats over the course of seventeen years. Transportation Manager, Vocational Counselor, and managing a Housing program for the homeless. I was laid off in December of last year.
