After high school, I attended LSU/Baton Rouge for a year, then came home to LSUA. I married in 1966, had 2 children, and divorced after 5 years of marriage. I returned to school, obtained a BS in Accounting with a minor in Economics, and went to work for a CPA firm. After a year or so, I answered an ad in the Journal of Accountancy for overseas work, and wound up (after 18 months of interviews, background checks, and FBI interrogations of all my friends, family, and neighbors) a commissioned Foreign Service Officer for the United States Government. I spent 21 years as a Controller for the United States Agency for International Development (the agency which spends your tax dollar that goes to Foreign Aid). A Controller is the US Government equivalent of a CFO, each post being a (slightly different) company. I served in Cameroon (West Africa), Sri Lanka (Asia), Chad (sub-Saharan Africa), the Dominican Republic (the Caribbean), and Uganda (sub-Saharan Africa).
