Kathleen's Story
Well since high school I've had a bit of health problems. I had a brain aneurysm and two strokes after that. The first stroke took all of my speech, the second one took all the use of my left side. I was left with severe short term memory loss and left foot drop, which I were a brace for... My balance has been comprimized so I have to walk with a walker. I'm currently going to P.T. to have my gait assessed to see if I can go to my cane. Which would be a lot less cumbersome.
Other than that what can I say? I worked in childcare for thirteen years. I was a daycare teacher. I finally got burned out in that because I was working with 3 and 4 year olds and got tired of changing pants from trying to potty train them. After that job, I wanted something else so I went to MATC and took Medical Transcription and Medical Terminology to get my Associate Degree in Medical Transcription. I went for 3 yrs., part time and finally did it! It was a long haul but I did it. When I had gotten done - I took a while off and just had fun...then I started looking for a part-time job. No, one - but no one wanted a part-time worker. I got so tired of looking that I finally stopped.
So now I'm on disability and just volunteer at Meriter Hospital as a Cuddler. I had to go through training first, and then heath scree...Expand for more
nings. Finally I was able to hold the babies in the NICU when the parents aren't able to be there. They are so sweet!!! I just rock them and sing to them until they fall asleep or the parents come.
I live alone and have a cat Angel who is my best pal. She is eight years old, I think, and she is my world!!
If anyone would like to get together with me - let me know, I'm always looking for someone to do things with. I like going to movies and having a Margarita here and there... there is a Laredos right behind where I live on Post Rd. I like going there for lunch once in a while, when I can afford it. I get paid on the 3rd of each month, so anytime after that would be great. Thanks for reading my motor fingers. I hope you have had a better time of it after high-school.
Just post me or e-mail me and I'll try to get back to you. See ya, Kathleen
I don't get angry very often, but when I do I need to get outside and just breathe the fresh air!! Take a walk, listen to some music, maybe call a friend and talk about something totally different than the argument was. I also like to relax by having a massage somewhere if I can afford it - otherwise I don't know, I guess just meditate with some relaxing music or just be still and quiet. Forget about everything if I can! That's how I relax. What about you?
