Kathy's Story
I was born and lived on the east side of Detroit. I went to A.L. Holmes Elementary and Jane Cooper Elementary. Then for Junior High, I went to John Burroughs. I graduated from there in August 1966 and my parents and I moved to the 6 Mile and Gratiot area from Harper and Van Dyke.area I then went to Edwin Denby High School and graduated in June 1969.
I held 6 permanent jobs from November 1969 to November 2006. I became homeless in October 2006 due to illness...Expand for more
and spent almost 1 year in homeless shelters and on the downtown streets of Detroit, I had cousins who lived in Traverse City MI and they help me relocate here in Traverse City in March 2007. I am now on Disability from Social Security and live in a apartment community on the west side of Traverse City since September 2007. I never married or had children and was an only child. I took care of my elderly parents and they both passed away in 1986 and 1991.
