Kathleen's Story
Life
I can't forget...
Pilot Terror
By Kathy Powers
Infinite reports immerse our senses,
Colossal towers melt to charred rubble,
Mighty radio transmitters relay immutable silence
Abandoned cars populate parking lot cemeteries.
A voiceless nation mutely scrambles,
Prepares never-used trauma stations,
Collects unneeded blood and organs:
Powdered remains need no nourishment.
Skyjackers, people-erasers expunge
Big Apples workforce to DNA dust.
Vapors spew acrid breath over
Body-part raindrops.
Tacit pandemonium watchers, struck dumb in awe,
Monitor newspeak and comprehend not,
Why terrorists airbrush NYCs skyline in
Smoldering, sooty, steely, smoked down.

Recollection
9/28/2005
Remember me
When this you see;
Theres not much else
I offer thee:
Immortal prayers,
Kindly stares,
Do not suffice
For future cares.
Beyond the dearth
To leave my mark
I want to put you
Light, not dark.
Remember me
When this you see
My muted words
Speak joy to thee.

Welcome Back
...Expand for more
by Kathy Powers
Welcome back to the circle.
The loneliness flickers
Flashed in your eyes.
Your smile lines invade
A prevailing set frown.
From an inner warmth shines,
Your golden heart lilts:
Your audience hears it
And absorbs its resonance.
Your struggles continue
Disguised all anew. The
stagnation eludes you
And death lies invisible.
Now respect that is due you,
Heavily hangs in lieu;
Your self-worths owed payment
By you, only you!
Welcome back.

you can write I love you on the furniture....
Dust If You Must
by Kathy Powers
Dust if you must but wouldnt it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.
Dust if you must but theres not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must but the worlds out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it is not kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, at last, become the dust.
