Kathleen's Story

Come see me at facebook, too. Email me at ksuper(at sign)entrycircle(dot)com. November, 2009 Hello everyone, I hope you are surviving if not thriving in economic turmoil we have been going through. How timely it was for me to start Richer Than You Think LLC, which is my personal budgeting and advisory service. In any economy, consumers can grow their wealth using their current income, and I believe everyone should be wealthy. It is enjoyable to show people that living check-to-check is not necessary, and that one can still have fun on a great budget that builds their wealth. Why don't we learn this as kids? I completed my work to get my "Jumper" judge's license with the United States Equestrian Federation, so the application is in and a decision comes in January. My cookbook now has over 50 recipes, all tested and amazing. I will print in the next 30 days and let everyone know how to get it. I hope you enjoy it. My horse is great, he is turning 14 in January. The picture above was several years ago; he is now all white! He is a great and trusted partner. David and I are enjoying post-college life now that his kids and my niece have graduated. He created a thriving upscale used book business called Stick Figure Books and will be working on that full time beginning January 1. I still pine for the corporate world experience, so don't be surprised if I post an update over the next year saying I've gone to work for a financial services firm, bank, or food industry company. Take care, Kathy 2009: I enjoyed seeing the reunion pictures! My husband's two children have graduated from college, as has my niece. We supported all three through school, and we are excited it is over. I cannot believe I had no children of my own but helped put three through college. Horse show judging is fantastic. This year I apply for my license in the "jumper" division. Cash management business is off the ground now that it has been tested with several clients. Scaling back from fundraising except limited projects. Cookbook is about to go into draft printing and testing. My horse is great. I hope you all have a wonderful summer! 2008: Have 3 companies. e undertaking related ventures. Another is a fundraising consulting practice that is booming. The third is a personal budgeting practice that transforms peoples lives through effective personal budgeting and cash management. It's a terrific business that is taking off. Finally, I'm in the process of writing a cookbook and reserving the title. Hope to report on this soon. 2006: Retired. After 2 decades in the nonprofit sector, I retired March 31, 2006. Thankfully I'm young enough for new ventures. Can't wait! LIFE: My interest in money took me from Economics at UMCP into philanthropy where I have been for almost 20 years. Shocking that it has been that long! I spent about 15 years in fundraising (mostly hunger relief) and then five as the head of a regional nonprofit here in the Chicago area. It won't surprise you that I am seriously involved in horses...STILL! I took about 10 years off from the horses after high school, but I'm back in it with a show jumper named "Cal" (as in Cal Ripken). In January 2008, I became a judge for the United States Equestrian Federation, which allows me to judge equestrian show-jumping competitions throughout the country. My next step with his is earning credentials to judge internationally and then the Olympics. I also learned to play golf, though I am much more of a fan than a player. Just love the men's PGA, and I'm a huge fan of Tiger Woods. It's hard to describe my passion for cooking. Maybe mentioning that I am writing a cookbook could help in that description.... I follow Warren Buffett and study financial news and developments. Love the investment world and great companies. My family is doing well, so many of you know my mom, sister (Cheryl) and brother (Matt). Everyone is thankfully healthy. Thanks to my sister, I have a beautiful niece who is about to graduate from Pitt, and a nephew who's just 7. As for me, I have no children of my own (on purpose). I am married to the most wonderful man in the world who has two children of college age. Hope you have had a most rewarding life. There is a connection to high school friends that we not only never lose, but we never quite repeat. How special. Hope to see you at the 25th reunion! Love to everyone, Kathy.
