Kathleen's Story
What a wild and wonderful life it has been so far! Looking forward to much more of the same. After leaving Owensville the day after I graduated from OHS I lived for a short time in St.Louis and then in Columbia and back to St. Louis before moving to Northwest Indiana (35 miles southeast of Chicago) in 1971. Spent the next 35 years there where I met and married my wonderful 2nd husband Chuck O'Day--renewed my faith in "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again". He was so worth the wait. He drastically changed me and everything about my life. After he retired we moved (in 2004) to southwest Florida where Chuck had been vacationing since he was a teenager. Sadly he died suddenly in 2006 but the 24 years we had together left me without one ounce of anything but gratitude for having him in my life. We were raising our 3 grandkids so his passing left them without the best Poppy in the world but God had a plan for us---and had it not been for these 3 great kids I would have been flat on the floor in grief. No time did they give me for that, thankfully. They keep me standing still. I still work--have the best ...Expand for more
job ever---I work on the pristine island of Boca Grande for the #1 real estate office there. The famous and no-so-famous come through our door fairly regularly---and 99% of them I will never forget. Many have become my very good friends.. It's amazing how many are from the St. Louis area--one couple even had purchased a horse from my ex-brother-in-law (who lives at Owensville) and they have a farm at Bay. Amazingly small world!! Amazingly wonderful world that I love being a part of. My grandkids are now 22, 16 and 14. They all have so much to look forward to and so do I!!
Five more years or so & I will be ready to start another journey---can't wait!
I still hold a very special place in my heart for the wonderful town of Owensville where I also met some of the most wonderful people in the world. What a blessing it was to spend my high school days there. It really prepared me by giving me the confidence and solid grounding I needed for all this wonderful life has brought me. I miss you all and hope you are all well! So many are no longer with us, and that makes me sad. Gone much too soon but never forgotten.
