Kathryn's Story

Life I got my BA in Psych in 82 from MTSU... a year later I married Alan Spear (big mistake), no children from that marriage (thank goodness!). I divorced him in 87 after a period of separation during which I rejoined the SCA where I met my second husband, Kent Dyer. We were married in 88. I went back to grad school but a car accident lost me a semester and then my biological clock went off like an atomic bomb! I went to work for the state in Personnel while Kent got a job with the state as a computer programmer. In 93, after a PIH pregnancy (and bed rest... yuk!) our daughter was born. I quit work to stay home to take care of her and to write. Our son was born in 96 after a normal pregnancy! Kent & I separated amicably in January of 2003 and divorced in 2006. I live in Murfreesboro with my kids and five cats (aka the Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde). Unfortunately the only picture I had was one from an SF convention I went to recently. I married Dale Brown ('77) on November 4th, 2006. School School bio?? Weird... I was in Varsity Choir & Marching Band... I was only in Marching Band to get out of having to take PE <g>. I got into Varsity Choir because a friend wanted moral support while she tried out! But I enjoyed doing both... especially Choir. Although I missed out on getting to do the show my Junior year because of Giles getting so po'ed about people not being able to make enough practices. I was looking forward to doing that piece f...Expand for more
rom "Pippin". And there was no point trying out for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". Ah well. The international competitions were fun. And quite frankly, most of my time was spent waiting for college... which was a LOT more fun! College Fun but a blur... I sped through college... one semester after another until I was through... the funny thing was that I started out majoring in drama, then interior design, but ended up in psychology which I was just taking for fun. Primarily because there was one teacher in each of the first two areas who didn't like me and taught classes that I *had* to take to get through the program. I'd never have gotten through with a good average but I was making straight A's in psych... go figure. OTOH I read my first Abnormal Pysch text when I was 11 so I suppose it's not too surprising... but that's why I was taking the classes as electives in the first place. I ended up taking German as my language for my BA and talking them into letting me take it as my minor as well... hehehe... which gave me even more hours to use for electives. So I ended up with a LOT of extra psych classes... took some related classes in education which were so easy I practically slept through them. I took class voice... everyone else did rock or country for their last song (which we got to pick)... I did "Heidenroeslein"... which I translated myself... that was fun. I had a blast in college. Just wish it had worked out when I went back for grad school.
