Kathryn's Story
I am Kathryn Dalgleish Christensen Gregory. I was first married to Dwight Marshall Christensen who attended Loma Linda Academy, but grad. from Monterey Bay Academy in 1964. We have two sons, Dwight Jr., age 46, and David Thomas, age 43. Both sons are registered nurses, Dwight is in the Army as a Major. He is married to Ann (Reyes)also an RN, an immigrant from the Philippines. They have a gorgeous 5 (soon to be 6) yr old daughter Krystal Ann, my first natural grandchild to go with my 6 step-grandchildren, who all call me "Grama"! My son David lives with us as our full time caregiver. David was married to another Filippina named Susan, (now divorced) at the time she gave me 4 more step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. I am a registered nurse, retired since 1993. During the years 1993-2006, we were active full-time RV'rs, and enjoyed it immensely, crossing the USA several times on a genealogy quest, & into Canada a number of times, and up and down the west coast many times. In 1982 (Dec.15th will be 30 years) I married my 2nd husband, Robert Bruce Gregory, Jr. He is a 100% disabled Marine Corps Sergeant, Vietnam Vet. All together we have 6 children, and 7 grandchildren. We have lived in many and varied places, beginning with Redlands, CA., then to Portland, Oregon, Troutdale, Oregon, Newport, Oregon, the Tri-Cities area, Washington, Vancouver, WA, Cody, Wyoming, Livingston, Texas (briefly!), currently, we live in Banning, CA. Our oldest grandchild is 20, graduated from the Marine Corps last Jan (2012). Just got word he was promoted to Lance Corporal! He is studying jet engine repair while in the corps. Our youngest is almost 6. If it weren't for physical problems and setbacks, we would still be "on the road" to see what is over the next hill!! ing, my other hobby was gold prospecting and metal detecting. I sure do miss being able to pursue this hobby! Watercolor painting, drawing with colored pencils, and graphite drawing occupy my time as well.
I hope members from any of the classes at the old Valencia Junior Academy(Buena Park, CA 1952-53, my 1st grade, skipped 2nd grade), Loma Linda Elementary (1953-59 third to eighth grade) Mountain View Academy (1959 to 1966), La Sierra College (1963-65), where I was a Physical Therapy Major, Music Minor; Loma Linda University Allied Health-Physical Therapy (1965-66 didn't finish, got married instead,& started my family!) will contact me. Later on, 1979-81, I took Vocational Nursing at San Bernardino Valley College, graduated Valedictorian. In 1985, I challenged the RN course through the New York program, obtaining my RN. Worked for a number of years at Pass Hospital, Banning, CA; Kaiser Hospital, Fontana, CA., then continued on in Portland, Oregon. Would love to hear from you! Even those from the old Fairview Junior Academy in Colton, CA. where my father Arthur Dalgleish was principal and teacher (1948-52) and at Valencia Jr. Aca.(1952-53) will contact me as well. Dad will be 92 in August! Mom will be 89 in Sept!
I hope that my former classmates will remember me as that shy, short, sweet blonde! I was always on the pudgy side, and am more so now! Got my right knee replaced 2 yrs ago, so I can exercise again! I sure do miss playing tennis, jogging, hiking, etc.
I always wanted to be a architect when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were wrong and I was wrong! Instead I became an RN, working mostly Med-Surg, sometimes Pediatrics, Post-Partum, even Oncology and the Allergy Clinic. Retired in 1993, went Rv'ing for about 14 years. Loved it! Time and age has slowed me down, so no more Rv'ing. Recently moved to Banning, CA.
