Kathleen's Story
Life
After high school I attended Univ. of Oregon and graduated with an Elementary Education degree. I then attended Portland State Univ. and received a Masters Degree in Library Science. I met my husband at U of O, he graduated from Grant. We got married in 1975 and are still together.
I was the Library Media Specialist at Bilquist Elem. in Milwaukie from 1975-1978. I retired to have 1 girl and 2 boys. I stayed home with my kids for several years. I got bored and through a series of random events started my own business selling dry bean soup mixes - The SOUPerior Bean Company. I sold it in 1996 with 13 employees. I went back to being a Library Media Specialist again at Spring Mt. Elem. in Happy Valley until June 2004 when the local bond failed and all Library Media Specialists were cut. I now teach 5th grade at the same. school. Quite a change ...Expand for more
at 54 years old! I retired in June 2008 and loving bouncing back and forth to the beach.
I played City Soccer indoor and outdoor from 38 to 50 when I the team fell apart. I tore my ACL, had surgery and broke an ankle 10 days before rafting the Colorado River, which I did with a waterproof cast. What a blast!
My kids graduated from Clackamas High School. My daughter is 33 and a Physician Assistant in California. My oldest son is 30. He lives in St.Thomas in the Virgin Islands working and scuba diving. My younger son is 28. He lives in Phoenix and is finishing an Art Design degree at ASU.
I live in Milwaukie and have a beach house in Oceanside (by Tillamook) which I go as much as possible. My husband buys old dumpy houses, remodels them and then sells them. I have had a great life so far and have no complaints - well I would like some grand kids.
