Kathy's Story
Life
1968-Graduate of Cuero High School

Began in 1971 teaching business at Cuero High School. Married Art Bowers in 1973 (formerly of Palacios) and a graduate of Texas A&M College Station. Coached under Buster Gilbreth and was an assistant during two state champs and two runnerups. Mother of two children--Craig (age 40) and works at Dow Chemical as an operator. Daughter, Kristine, age 36, is a graduate of Texas A&M University, College Station. She received her Master's Degree from The University of Houston in Forensic Science in May 2011. Kristine married a young man she met her senior year at Texas A&M. He came to College Station meeting some of the same friends that she has...and love bloomed!! He is a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University at Galveston. They were married at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cuero.
My husband and I celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary with a 14 day cruise and land tour of Alaska. Currently, we have been married 45 years!! Seems like just yesterday!!
I retired after 48 years of teaching at Cuero High School at the end of school year 2019.

re not only my former teachers, but my wonderful friends. Cuero High School lost some wonderful teachers, and I really miss them. Virginia was also a neighbor of ours when we lived on East Main Street, and she loved to come over and visit with Art and myself. She never missed a birthday party for our kids!
Mrs. Kirk never failed to help me cut cakes for St. Michaels parish festivals. Both were just wonderful examples of great ladies!
The great thing about being in the new school is, of course, a new lab but everyday I see a picture of Mrs. Kirk hanging in the lobby as you enter the school. It hangs on a wall opposite a wall in my room. How great!
I can say without a doubt it has been an honor to teach at my alma mater. And, I certainly have enjoyed being a part of a winning tradition, too.
