Kathy Boyd:  

Life The summer after 10th grade my family moved from Brandon to Panama City, FL and I graduated with class of '75, Rutherford High School. After graduation I attended Gulf Coast Community College and worked part-time at the Cheese Barn restaurant in historic downtown PC. In the fall of '78 I married Tony Thomas, a transplant from south Florida. After a couple years in PC, we moved to Kissimmee and went to work for Morrison-Knudsen on the EPCOT Center construction project. For the next many years we continued to follow construction work, doing two stints in NY state and one in Washington state. Along the way we had three wonderful children - Sarah ('85), Amy ('88) and Rachel Dakotah ('90). Sarah's arrival marked a major change in my life as I became a stay-at-home mom for the next nine years. In the fall of '94 we relocated our family to Winter Springs, FL (north of Orlando) and I went back into the workforce. In early '07 I got divorced and then moved to Tampa in the Fall of '08 for work. These days life is good, better than it's been in a LONG time. I've made some great new friends and I'm having more fun than I ever thought possible! After all, 50 is the new 30... At Horace Mann Jr. High I remember studying the works of Homer, getting interested in poetry, and trying to memorize the Periodic Table for Science class.
