Kathy's Story
I always enjoyed being a part of the Marion Highschool class of 1970 and getting to be with my fellow classmates. However in the summer of 1969 I met the love of my life. We got married on Christmas of 1969. My husband was in the Navy and stationed at Miramar, California just outside of San Diego. To be with him meant I had to leave my hometown highschool. I think that is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. As soon as I got to California, I enrolled in a school called Poway Highschool. e guidance teacher, whom became my mom away from home, gave me a permanent pass to leave campus when needed to. But to see the way kids dressed and the way they talked made me feel like I was on another planet. Just to let you know how bad it was back in 1970 at Poway Highschool, at Prom one of the teachers was arrested for drug posession. It was a hard transission for me because I missed my family, friends, and my wonderful hometown of Marion. However, I would do it all over again just to be with my wonderful husband of 41 years.
I do want to thank the fellow classmates for keeping me a member of the 1970 graduating class. In my heart you guys are my friends and classmates. Poway Highschool never existed as far as I am concerned. Love you Marion Highschool, class of 1970. You were the best.
