Kathy's Story
In updating my profile, I am married with a wonderful, blended family, consisting of 3 children and 3 stepchildren, as well as 10 grandchildren Peter and I were married 23 years on July 14th. . We are very proud of our children and their spouses - incredibly proud of our six granddaughters and three grandsons. Two of our children got Masters in Business Degrees in 2010 - Leigh Ann and Eric- and Jill is working on her D.Min. in Austin, Texas. She will be accepting a calling to Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC in july, as Associate Pastor in Missions. We are excited to have her three children so much closer to us.
. Lisa is an RN who works in the GI Lab at McLeod Regional. Leigh Ann works for American Express and Joy received her MBA at Wake Forest in 1998 and works for Volvo/Mac Truck Parts and has been exptremely successful in a worldwide marketing role. . Eric works in Operations for Walmart in Raleigh. Graham lives in Boston with his partner, Jack. He has a degree in Arts from Boston College and plans to contnue his education at Bridewater University
We are blessed to have all of our children in our lives, are enjoying watching them grow and succeed. and love them very much. We are so fortunate to have 6 very successful, wonderful children. The grandchildren are still young, the oldest boy will be 14 in October and the oldest girl is 13. The other 8 are 12 down to 5. We hope that God blesses us with life that allows us to see them all to grow up and thrive.
We also love our big brindle dog, Ginger, our small brown combo dog, Zak, and our 4 cats, Ralph William, Winston Porter,Mantha and Bitha, our calico twins -they are 3 years old now. Ralph, our Main coon cat, is 14 years old.
I got an associate degree in nursing in 1972 and finally achieved a life goal of getting my BSN in 2007.. I was only abl...Expand for more
e to enjoy my BSN for a short time before I became disabled with two autoimmune disorders, that are treated in Chapel Hill at UNC by a neurologist and an orthopedic surgeon. I have been fully disabled since April 2008/
We left Florence, SC in January, 2012 and have been RV'er's since that time. Peter is currently filling in for a physician in Foley, Alabama, who was deployed to Afghanistan for 5 months. we do not know what the future holds, but do any of us really?
Spiritually, I am much closer to God now than in several years, thanks to special people in my life who led me in that direction by example.Sometimes these people come into our lives for a time and later we understand why.
Life holds so many uncertainties -just glad God holds the past, present and future. I just have to remind myself to "let go and let God" especially during stressful bumps in the road. As always, I tend to be hard headed and think I can handle everything all by myself,so I am glad to have a loving and forgiving God who never leaves me.
Still love the 60's music better than any other - Gene Pitney is one of my favorite artists and his album, Blue Angel is mysummer months. I am sun intolerant and crowd intolerant too :) so enjoy fall, winter and spring at the travel park more than summer, when it is so very hot. I can't wait until it is time to enjoy it again! favorite. Also, like Linda Ronstadt's album, What's New?
We are currently residing in Alabama, awaiting God's will in our lives...not just sitting around expecting Him to do the work, but looking to Him for the guidance and the best path. Our dream is to find a job in NC and go home, so that Peter can work a few more years and then we can retire in NC. Meanwhile, we could have the opportunity to watch those beautiful grandchildren grow up. "Not my will, Lord , but Thine...."
