Kathy's Story

Life I've been married twice... first one should have never happened. Spent 6 yrs of what should have been some of the best years of my life dating and married to this man. His was a sad story, but I got to where I felt no pity. AFTER the divorce, I became pregnant... a blessing thru my sin... my miracle baby girl, Shannon, who is now going on 22, went to Shawnee State and just graduated this past fall with a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Management... and just got a great job in Cincinnati. She married a wonderful young man she met in college... a lovely wedding in August of '05. Her husband is Brian Stamper, and is now my son. He is a new realtor with ReMaxx in Cincinnati, so with both of them in new careers, I don't expect grandchildren for at least 2-3 yrs... they and God will make that decision. I married my 2nd husband in '88, and I went from party girl to marrying a man going into the ministry overnight. We spent 4 yrs in North Carolina while he was in Seminary... they were wonderful years, but the kind you don't realize how much you appreciate them until you leave them. We made many lifelong friends. We moved back this way, to Rio Grande, OH so he could pastor his first church. While there, I attended Rio Grande University, College of Nursing, and became a Registered Nurse. I've had a variety of experiences from geriatic psych(never again!!) to home health(never again!!), to travel nursing, CCU, mostly med-surg. 2006 I was out of work most of the year due to back problems and other illnesses... had chiropractic work, but that was temporary, so I went to a doctor who specializes in spinal problems, and I had several procedures done. Still didn't qualify for any sort of disability or anything, so the $$$ situation sucks. Also, after years of deep consideration, and months of counseling, I have separated from my husband and will have a disollution coming up soon. We had two adorable shih-tzus, but our female passed away in November unexpectedly after a short illness. This broke our hearts, as well as the other dog's heart... he literally mourned for her. We still do, but we are grateful for the almost 14 yrs we had with her. I am waiting to start work at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital on their orthopedic med-surg floor. I have to wait for my back doctor to get my records to them before they release me to work. Can't wait!! So, now I live in an apt. in Ashland with JoJo the white cat with blue eyes, and kittens Noel (solid black) and Bob (brown/black striped), named after the OU Bobcats. I'm a Bobcat fan by marriage, and will remain so... it's in my blood now, but Marshall isn't 2nd... they're equal in my heart. God bless you all... Kathy (PS... I still play my flute!!) I always wanted to be a mother when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were RIGHT!. I'm a couch potato... a cool one, so...Expand for more
not much steam to blow off. When I'm off work, I usually leave it behind me! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have caffeine, pens, lots of them, and Jesus to be able to deal with the day-to-day. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Saralee Horn-Garrett, because I MISS her!!!! And the late Mr. Bruni.. LOVE Ohio University Bobcat sports... I'm a Bobcat by marriage. I LOVE my pets, and since my profile, which needs to be updated, MUCH has changed. Our male shih-tzu, Killer passed away in Apr '07, and I got shih-tzu Cooper soon after... my husband recently adopted an elderly shih-tzu, Cornelius, who is blind and almost deaf. Cooper and Cornelius get along great! Pets are SO close to people... some think I'm crazy for that, but if you've loved a pet, you see the soul they have!!! If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a sun room. My dream home would be to buy and remodel the home I grew up in at 1005 W. 4th St.. That kids grow up WAY too fast, are a TRUE blessing, and that they are wonderful to have. I wish I could have had more, but lost 2 pregnancies,so I am quite happy with my 23 yr old only "child", who is a wonderfully successful married lady now! I LOVE to watch reality shows like Intervention, Paranormal State, America's Got Talent, sometimes American Idol, and others. I DO love my TV!!! If I won $100 million, I'd give 20-25% of it to family, then spend the rest on bills, charities I truly believe in and savings... & I'd QUIT work!!. My current age is 47,almost 48. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be almost dead!!. I was so completely wrong, I hope!!. I have recently lost a total of about 45-50 lbs, so my style of clothing has changed. What I HOPE is that I don't dress too young because I feel so much better. I'm still approaching 50, and even though I feel great about the weight loss, I really don't want to be one of those ladies who tries to look younger by dressing like a teenager. I THINK I do OK... Sure hope so!!! In 10 years, I hope to be a grandma. I'm going to get there by , well, we all know the answer to that!! It's now going to be about 4 more yrs before they start trying... but that's OK... it's up to them, but I'll be jumping for joy when they do get pregnant!!. My first job was at Dwight's 8th St., where I got paid 80 cents/hr to waitress. What I remember most about it is how klutzy I was as a waitress!! I spilled a butterscotch sundae on a customer, dribbled a spilled milkshake down all of the stacked up coffee mugs, and almost stabbed my boss when I was making a strawberry pie & my feet hit where someone had just mopped. My feet looked like Fred Flintsone trying to start his car, & when I got my footing back on track, the sharp knife was pressed against my boss's belly. We both sort of quietly freaked, but it was OK... I had numerous mishaps there, but they didn't fire me!!!.
