Kathy's Story
After graduation in '69, I worked at Jasper Park Lodge for a season and got the travel bug. The next year, I did the Grand Tour of Europe. Over time, I completed 2 years in Journalism at Algonquin College and then continued on to get a BA at the University of Ottawa in '74.
I worked in advertising for a year or two before landing a position in the Communications Division of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) (1976-92). Eventually, I became a Technical Editor and travelled the world; East Africa, Singapore, Europe, the Middle East and, at one point, lived in Nairobi, Kenya, for a year in 1988-89.
I married in 1976 and divorced in '87 (a ver...Expand for more
y nice guy and we are still friends). I remarried in 1999 (also to a very nice guy and we are still friends too) and I have a 42-year old married stepdaughter and an 11-year old step granddaughter. My husband Joe and I will celebrate 13 years married last April and a total of 20 years living together.
I went freelance from IDRC in 1992 and my husband and I retired early in 2001.
My hobbies are fly fishing (fishing of any kind really), oil painting, reading, classic movies, and travel. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with some of my old friends from high school - Gayle S., Faye A., Suzin B., and I, as well as many others, will all be there in May! Cheers Kathy
