Kathy's Story
Life
Hey y'all. I can't believe it's been so many years since we were all in high school. Time does fly. I am married to a wonderful man and living just outside Pittsburgh, PA. My oldest son is 28 and pursuing a career in music. My 21 year old son is an Eagle Scout and working towards a career in the Air Force. I have a beautiful daughter-in-law and a 5 year old grandson. My husband Harry is a computer technician working in downtown Pittsburgh for a large insurance company. He loves being a computer 'geek' as he calls himself. I'm not working at the moment, taking a sabbatical of sorts while trying to get used to the cold Northern winters. I didn't know how much I would miss Charleston. I miss so much about it but I do not miss the heat & humidity!
In spite of all the horror stories about meeting people 'online', I am proof that good things do happen. I met my husband Harry online. He's my second husband. My first & I divorced after 15 years but are still friends and still talk once in a while. Harry moved from Minnesota to Charleston and we've been together 7 years now, married for 4. Good things can and do happen.
I've worked pretty much non-stop since high school. Got my EMT certification and worked in the medical field for a while. Then on the advice of a friend, I applied with the Charleston County Police Dept and worked there for 10 years until I was injured on the job and had to take my retire...Expand for more
ment. Once my injury and all the numerous surgery had healed, I spent the next 6 years with one of the best law firms in the country. Ness Motley, now known as Motley Rice, one of the largest law firms in the country. I was a paralegal working on the tobacco and asbestos litigations for 6 years. Once they had pretty much settled, I took some time off for me. I found a great temp position with the Navy that became permanent. I couldn't have wished for better people to work for or with. Sadly though, our office was on the BRAC list and slated for closure and relocation. My family & I decided it was time to move on. My husband's family is from the Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas so we decided to move here instead of relocating to Florida with the rest of my Navy group. In a couple of years, we're planning to move to Minneapolis, MN.
Hopefully I'll get back to Charleston for a visit some time soon. I'd love to catch up with some old friends. Until then, we are planning a family vacation to New York City, Canada and more of the north east.
My husband & I are very much into computer games. Whenever we can, pretty much most of the time, we love playing World of Warcraft. It's a fun game and a way of relaxing. We're home-bodies so this is our entertainment. I'd much rather spend an enjoyable evening at home with my husband than in a crowded bar.
Take care everyone and drop me a note sometime to say hi.
