Kathy's Story
I moved from Teays Valley at the end of my 9th grade year, due to my parents divorce. We moved back to the West side of Columbus where I went to Briggs High School and was expected to graduate with my class of 1979. I graduated one year early in 1978. I then went and got myself into Union Construction. I was 1 of the first 3 women in Columbus to do this. which is the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where I went to school for 4 years and was the only girl in my class. I became a journeyman electrician in 1988. This year was my 25th anniversary with the electricians. I have a very injured back and now work as a Job Developer and Manager of the Greenleaf Job Training Services for the Mansfield area office. I work and train people with disabilities to go in to the work world.
