Kathy's Story
Life is great! Since leaving Kress in August of 1975, I have lived in some wonderful places and met many awesome people. I went to Austin, Texas to college, my freshman year at Concordia Lutheran. The next two years were at Texas Tech (where Margaret Byrd and I were Sorority Sisters!) I got married before my Senior year at Tech and moved to Montana....God's Country. The most beautiful place in the world. I lived in Montana for 8 years and both of my sons were born there. While there I also attended Montana State Univ after my husband got his Masters. We moved to Olton for a short time and then he got a job in Brookings SD for South Dakota State Univ. Another job promotion took us to Poteau Oklahoma. I lived there until our divorce in 1998. I lived in Fort Smith Arkansas, where I was the school secretary for First Lutheran School for several years. Both of my sons attended school there for 6 years. After my divorce, I got a job as a secretary for a large Lutheran Church in Muncie, Indiana. I met and married a wonderful man and have now lived in Bryant Indiana for the last 9 years. I have worked as a Floral Designer for the last 8 years and truly love my work and the people I work with. My husband and I live in a home that his Great Grandfather built. We live on the family farm that has been in his family for over 102 years. In addition to farming we own and operate a hunting and gun shop. I never knew how much I missed the farm until I came back to it...though at times I do so miss the ranches of Monta...Expand for more
na and Oklahoma and the cattle.
My greatest accompishment in life is having two sons and raising them to be two awesome young men. My Sons are my life and my heros. Both have defended and served our country as United States Marines. They have both done tours in Iraq and have now completed their active duty and are serving in the Ready Reserves. Being a Marine Mom is truly an honor. I devote much of my free time now to helping other Marine Parents going through the many challenges that face them daily. I am also the co founder of our local military support group, as well as a member of Indiana Marine Parents, and Marine Moms.
My oldest son ranches with his Dad in Oklahoma. He is married to a wonderful girl and they have given me a beautiful granddaughter. My youngest son just finished his active duty and is presently living in Louisianna and going to LSU.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with Rhuematoid Arthritis. Sometimes it makes getting through the day a challenge. But I have been blessed with a wonderful group of doctors and at the present with the help of medication and prayers it is under control.
LIFE IS WONDERFUL and I feel the Lord has blessed me in so many ways. My life has taken me many miles from the rural panhandle of Texas and I have had many wonderful experiences and have made many wonderful friends.
I rarely get back to Texas, since my Parents are both gone now. It would be nice to hear from each of you and hear what roads your lives have taken. I hope your lives have been rich with many blessings.
