Kathy's Story
Life
Living in Kouts, IN (13 miles south of Valparaiso). I have been married to Jake for 25 years. I have two daughters by my first husband, Mike Smith: 1) Laura, 44 (OMG!) who has a 19-yr.-old daughter, Chloe, and 2) Tricia, 42, who has a 3-yr.-old, Willow. Unfortunately, Mike and I divorced early on, but we are still good friends and happy parents and grandparents. I have a stepson, Charlie, 41. I spent most of my life working (as a nurse and as a legal secretary in Indiana in the early years), and then retired from a company in Huntsville, AL, where I was an office manager for 10 years. It was sometimes an arduous journey but I muddled through with more happiness than tears. And now...Expand for more
, though I am arthritic and graying and somewhat forgetful, life is good.
We have been retired for 8 years and spend our winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. We love it there and are involved in all sorts of fun things, i.e.,bridge, painting, bird watching, bicycling, traveling, etc. In the summer we garden, amuse our little granddaughter and spend as much time as possible at our little house on Big Long Lake in Wolcottville. That's my favorite place. The fishing is terrific, the water fresh and cool and the deck a perfect place for reading a good book or having a cold beer.
I've missed all but one class reunion. Hopefully, I'll make it to the next one and will see you all then.
