Kathy's Story
School
School life was pretty tough. We moved around a lot. Including my Senior year. I felt I really didn't belong to any high school because of that. My husband's job has moved us around a lot as well, and I put my foot down, once the kids got into high school, we weren't moving. Our last move was when our daughter was in 8th grade and we're still here, 20 years later.
College
With an on again, off again with school for the past 27 years, I finally got my BS this year. I graduated Phi Kappa Phi with my BS in Child Development from California State University, Fresno. We live in a VERY rural community 1-1/2 hours from Fresno, which made getting my BS hard, but I'm done - finally. Now it's time to work on my Master's - it will definitely be done online!
Okay, it's been awhile since I updated my profile. At least six years, as now ...Expand for more
I have completed my master's in Early Childhood Education and finished my doctoral degree in February in Educational Leadership! So, now it is Dr. Watts. It's a great feeling to be done.
Workplace
For as long as I can remember, I had wanted to be a teacher. I did get side-tracked with raising my two children and school got put on hold. When my son was 4 (way back in 1985) I started teaching preschool. I really enjoyed it and no matter where we moved, I could find a job. Now I have the education to teach school, but, I really enjoy the preschool age, so that's what I choose to do. At least for now. One day, I'd like to teach Child Development at the community college level. - Well, teaching college courses is something else that has already happened now. I've been teaching Child Development at our local community college for 5 years.
