Kathy's Story

Life It is so exciting to see all of your names and wonder what all of you are up to. My past 20 years have flown by me. As most of you know, I was a mother of identical twin boys at 21. My twenties were much different than most of yals. I never married their dad but he has been very financially supportive the entire time, making things much easier for us. I started the medical field at 16 and my dream was to be a nurse. Being a young mother, I never finished nursing school but went to a vocational school to be a certified medical assistant. It got me from a medical receptionist to actually being the nurse in the back. I have done that about 15 years and have lots of experience. 1996, I meet my husband at my nephews t-ball game while he was playing against my husbands son. We were introduced, he called me a week later and asked me out and a year later we were married. My twins were nine at the time and he had two sons 7 and 9. They got along like best friends and shared the exact same interest. My twins love is hunting and fishing and that was their love too. Needless to say, this family is a very wildlife family. Well, there is more. My husbands sons couldn't stand being away from us when they were with their mom and stayed sad most of the time. When the oldest was 12 and youngest was 9 they came to live with us. My husband, his kids, my kids and myself were so happy and so complete, almost! There was one thing missing! All these boys, all this testosterone, I needed another girl in the house! Besides that, I wanted another baby. I never got to share a pregnancy with a husband like it should be. My husband warned me, there had never been a girl born in his family in over 200 years! Really, no girls!! They went all the way back to the 1700's. NO GIRLS! He said every Holcombe wife said they would be the first and it never has happened. He asked me to think about getting pregnant because between us, we had 4 boys! Three years later after care...Expand for more
fully thinking and praying, I had the first Holcombe girl! She is perfect! She has blonde hair and blue eyes after my husbands family but has my face and color. Everyone says she is a blonde Kathy. She is 4 now and my twins are 17 (Jan 31 they will be 18). They will be seniors this year at NSHS. My stepsons are the best kids anyone could ever dream about inheriting. They are perfect gentlemen, talented and gifted and athletic. All four boys are blonde and brown eyed so you would never know they came from two different families. My stepsons will be a senior at Smith and the youngest will be a freshman and begin the buisness acedemy he was inducted into. He has a very promising future in the acedemy. I stay at home now. I have since Haley was born. My day is busy as most of yals but doesnt end til I hit the pillow. My teenagers wear me out more than my four year old. They work, drive and go out everynight! My husband is a commerical construction superintendant. He has been is the business for over 20 years. He is known as one of the very best in the industry. He is completely in charge of building over 20 million dollar jobs. Crews with over 200 peolple and dozens of subcontractor have to answer to him. A very tough job but rewarding. He is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. Because of that, he has been sucessful. He has taught the boys alot about building and we have a small side buisness on the side that helps out alot! They use their profits for all their hunting toys and trips. Yes, Haley and I benefit too! We usally get a small shopping trip out of it! We are all healthy and happy. My family is still all here. We are very close. My parents have been married 50 years and have 21 grandkids! I miss all my friends and can't wait to see all of you in September! I hope we can start a new friendship with new memories. I will cherish the old memories. God bless you all and I cant wait to hear all of your stories! Take care. Much love-Kathy
