Kathy's Story
Life
After graduating from Okmulgee High, I played basketball at Connors State in Warner, OK. After graduation from there, I moved to Duncan and went to work for Halliburton. Hard to believe that was over 25 years ago!!!
I married Robert Black from Duncan in 1983. He also worked at Halliburton. He passed away in 1990 and I have been single since.
I still work at Halliburton, I started out in the Chemical Laboratory, and 3 years ago transfered to Project Controls. In this department I setup and maintained all of the projects for the chemical divisions for both Duncan and Houston Baroid. Late September of 2005 I changed jobs and I am now the Project Manager for the Chemical division in Duncan. It's a very hectic and challenging job.
I had started getting interested in pedigree cats in 1989 and after Robert died, I got into them full time. I bred, showed, put on cat shows, and worked many of them in this area. After showing for about 10 years, I thought it would be fun to be a judge. A good friend of mine also had this idea, so we egged each other on. Just this October (2005) I was advanced to Allbreed status, which i...Expand for more
s the highest ranking. My judging has taken me all over the world including the continental US, Belgium, Japan, Singapore, Germany, China, New Zealand, Canada and Austria. The cat judging is my weekend job, and Halliburton is my week day job. As you can see I am very busy.
I also bowl in a Halliburton league during the week!
Recently I have fallen in love with Daylilies, and am growing and hybridizing them. Guess my science background makes me want to create, so since I'm no longer breeding cats, now I breed flowers. The daylilies are great fun and I've met some great people who also share this interest. If you want to talk cats, flowers, travel, or any other topic, send me an email.
Some of you may know my parents, Bob and Roberta Burch. Dad was the pastor at the 2nd Baptist church in Okmulgee. They moved closer to me (Temple, OK) about 4 years ago. They are still in excellent health, dad is still preaching at a very small church in Grandfield, OK, and mother does 4 Weight Watcher meetings a week. They are very busy and active (must be where I got my drive!).
Anyway, that's about it for now.
