Kathy's Story
Life
Kathy here. Met my husband to be, Lynn Spangler, on a CMSt.P&P Railroad commuter train into the city of Chicago, where I was working as a secretary for that RR at Union Station. Lynn was a "Colorado cowboy", going to a business school and commuting to his college. We "dated" on the train for over a year, got engaged, and married. 36 years later, we have four grown children between the ages of 25 and 33, none married yet, but one grandchild and one couple is engaged to be married next May.
I've held many kinds of jobs while we were raising our family, but for the last 5 years employment has been the best yet. Our local school district hired me as a Special Education Teacher's Aide in the mornings and in the afternoons I've been a Preschool Teacher's Aide. I truly love working with preschool children, so two years ago I became a college student for the very first time and have been taking online credits at night on the internet to get my first...Expand for more
teaching certificate in Early Childhood. I graduate May 10, not with a degree but the certificate, and I couldn't be prouder. I know my 30 hours doesn't seem like much to those of you who have doctorates, but I couldn't be happier or prouder.
My husband is an associate pastor at our Assembly of God church, and we both became Christians during our second year of marriage. It's incredible to have relationship with the God of all creation, and to know that He loves even me!
I enjoy gourmet cooking, reading mysteries and thrillers, hiking in the mountains, music (still), playing the piano and watching HGTV. For three years (2002-2005) I was part of a gospel quartet and we performed locally and made two tours to the Northwest. We even produced a CD and were self-supporting with the sales! That was a fun thing that was a highlight for me, so thought you'd find that interesting.
Lynn and I are updating our 1895 home right now, so we're busy!
