Kathy's Story

I am currently married to my college sweetheart and we have three beautiful children. Two boys and a girl. We live in Zion, IL. Zion is along Lake Michigan and close to the WI and IL border. Since I left Dubuque in 2000, I taught for Chicago Public Schools. The school was on the West Side of Chicago near Oak Park. I was the Art teacher for the 4th-8th grades. It was a huge Elementary school with 1600 students, and I saw about 800 students a week. Most of the students were good kids but there was also a number of troublemakers. I am talking bad ass gang banger who have done and seen more in there life ...Expand for more
that I couldn't ever dream of. CPD was at the school daily taking students out in handcuffs. However this year, I got a teaching job in Zion District 6. I still teach art to 3rd-6th grade students. Teaching here is a breeze. The so called "bad" students are nothing. I actually enjoy teaching again. My kids are now 12, 11, and 8. They keep me very busy. My boys are sport nuts. Baseball, basketball, golf, and track. My daughter is into theater, art, dance, and tennis. All of them are in Scouting and they enjoy camping. They are all really good kids that do well in school. I am very proud of all of them.
