Kathy's Story
After I graduated from high school in Wyoming, I moved to Ann Arbor to begin my studies at the University of Michigan. While there, I worked at a child development center as a researcher to pay for all of my own college. My future husband, Bill, and I met through a mutual friend in 1970, while Bill was pursuing his PhD in Linguistics. After I completed my BA with a double major in American Government and Economics and a minor in Spanish Language and Literature, we were married in Ann Arbor.
After our 3 children were born in Michigan, Bill and I moved to South Carolina with our young family to enjoy the warmer climate and outstanding job market. Bill worked for a division of Volvo until he retired at age 57. In the meantime, I completed my studies and coursework for my PhD in Economics. I continued working as an Advanced Placement (AP) American Government and Politics teacher as well as an AP Macroeconomics instructor while teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB) public high school.

ughter, a medical-surgical nurse, and our oldest son, a computer security analyst. Both our son and daughter had previously moved to New Mexico with their own families to begin enjoying life in the "Land of Enchantment" and continue to enjoy all that this great State has to offer. Our youngest son, a brain surgeon, relocated to Kansas City after he married and began his private practice. He continues to enjoy his life there with his darling wife and their 2 sons.
My husband and I continue to enjoy the advantages of living in the high desert region of New Mexico, with its moderate temperatures and more than 320 days of fantastic sunshine. We still hike, bike, swim and run for exercise and fun. Plus, we have always enjoyed walking our 2 dogs around our hilly neighborhood, usually twice every day. We attend nearly all of the cultural and musical events in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area. But our favorite performances and activities continue to be those that our 6 grandchildren participate in. Life is good. I still have lots of fond memories of growing up and living in the great State of Michigan. So, please let me know what you are up to these days. I love reconnecting with friends and classmates...
