Katie's Story
My life has been very busy since High School..... The first few years I stayed local and worked as a day care teacher while taking courses at Harper. In Jan 1993 I left for Peoria and started nursing school. On my breaks from school I worked as a nurses aid in a hospital. I graduated in Dec 1995.
In 1996 I started a new chapter as a nurse, by this time I was dating my former husband. We married in Feb 1997. Life was busy with full time work and a new marriage. Within the first year we welcomed our 1st born son on 1/1/98. That spring my husband went back to school. I was the main income . Over the next 7 years we added 2 more boys in Dec 2001, and March 2005. as diagnosed with high functioning Autism.
My husband and I chose to end our 11 1/2 year marriage in Aug 2008. It was heartbreaking but was the best thing for both of us and most of all our sons.
My former husband has primary custody of our boys, due to my schedule it was the best decision. My former husband moved into a suburb with a very good special education program and all 3 of our sons are doing very well.
By 2010 we have become excellent friends and he ,his wife myself get along well and have done Halloween together and spent 2 spring holidays together with our sons. It is great, progress and it just strengthens our unity in regards to our sons.
As of now I am Working at Ross store and enjoying it. I am also in a wonderful relationship since Dec 2014.
