Katrina's Story
Life
Mike and I are on the move again, we have relocated to Albany, Oregon. Mike has take a PE position, and is the Head Wreslting Coach here at South Albany High School, he did coach on the JV football team. I have changed jobs and am working in an office, big difference for me, I am trying to get on with the school district working as a TA in the speical ed department.
Both my kids are still living the Bend/Redmond area, Jenelle (24) is working with the Youth Challenge Program, associated with the Oregon National Guard, and Josh (22) is getting ready to head off to Iraq, he will be going in 6 weeks for a 2 year tour, he will be blowing up bombed out buildings and bridges so that they can be rebuilt. By the Gaurd units that are over there already.
Things are wet here, but all is well as long as Mike and I are together, we hope everyone is doing well, and cant wait to see everyone in a coulple of years.
Although life has lead me in many directions and taught me many lessons the most important ones I have learned is that Family, Friends and a good foundation that I learned while being apart of a wonderful group of peopl...Expand for more
e like those I consider my friends at Phoenix High school is not to be taken lightly, and should always be cherished.
Workplace
I had always enjoyed working with the public, and because of this I went into retail, working for Newberrys, GI Joe, Target and then Fred Meyer, with all the training and experince I picked up while working at Fred Meyers that landed me my first Store Mangers position with a Company back in Wisconsin called Family Dollar. I did that for 3 years and was quit good at it.
I assited the District Manager in many ways, created a trouble shooting team and was responsible for the clean up of 6 stores in 3 States while with Family Dollar, after returning to Oregon I took a couple of years off from work. I was ready to jump back into retail and got on line with Dollar Tree one Sunday night and was called the next morning and offered a store and began traing with in the month.
I took over a store that had been miss managed for 2 years and I have turned it around and the store has been recieving bonuses since May of this year. I am hoping some day to move into a larger store, and maybe in to a DM position.
