Katy's Story
Life
I received my master's degree in counseling and human services in May, 2004. I am working toward my post-graduate 3,000 hours to become licensed as a mental health counselor (LMHC) in Indiana.
My children, Sam & Grace, are 9 and 5, respectively, and keep me on the go.
The plans for the next reunion are to have a casual party. Basically, some appetizers, beer, music and friends. We have booked the date of July 1, 2006 at Cheers Banquet Hall from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight. We will not be serving dinner--this is important! We will have at least 3 hot and 3 cold appetizers, snacks on the tables and some type of dessert(s). We really want everyone to dress as they wish--if you want to dress up, then dress up. If you want to come in jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt, then do it. Be yourself, be comfortable and let's have a great, relaxing time and make this a fantastic reunion!
School
If I could do it all again, knowing what I know now, I would. But there is no way in hell I would do it all over again going into it with no more knowledge than I had then. I won't talk about my biggest crush, nothing to say there because I never really thought of thinking about things t...Expand for more
hat would never happen. My English teachers inspired me to read and use my imagination and that once a writer writes something down and sends it out, it no longer becomes his or her writing. The way you read it, along with your life experiences, is how you interpret the story and bring meaning to it for yourself. It's subjective, to a point. (I mean, some things are pretty clear, sometimes.) I wasn't a really funny, crazy and happy-go-lucky person, so I don't really have any great stories to share. I'm trying to make up for that in the present.
College
I find these generic questions just a little boring and frustrating. I attended college, on and off, from 1986 until now. A few people have given me more than a hard time by insinuating I am afraid to live life and am hiding in a classroom. I don't feel this is accurate--at all. I always envied those who knew what they wanted to do with their life at a young age. My best friend in high school was one of these people and she's working now doing exactly what she envisioned herself doing in high school. I just never knew. I'm a late bloomer, I guess. For some of us, the journey takes a little longer. We'll get there.
