Kay's Story
Life
Well I got married 1 day before graduation, so I wasn't at graduation itself. Ron was in the Navy, so we moved to San Diego within 2 weeks of being married. Had our daughter within 2 years of being married and our son within 4 years. We moved to Prescott Valley when our daughter was going into 5 grade, because we didn't want her going to Carl Hayden high school. We have lived in Prescott Valley since 1981. In 1989 Ron had his first heart attack, he lost 1/4 of his heart during that heart attack, we found out at that time that someday he would have to have a heart transplant. Our 2 kids have both married and we have 1 grand daughter age 14, and 3 grandsons ages 12, 9, 4. In 2000 he had a second heart attack. In 2004 he had a heart transplant in Salt Lake City, Ut. We moved there for 1 year during that time. ...Expand for more
We finally got home in the end of Jan 2005. Ron's kidney's shut down in Dec 2004 after getting a new heart on May 15, 2004. One month ago I started the testing to see if I could give him a kidney. So far with all the testing done so far I match better than most siblings do according to the Va transplant coordinator in Portland, Or. where this transplant will be done. So for the past few years I have more of a caregiver than a wife. But I do thank GOD that he is still here for me to care for. My hope in life right now is just to get him well so for the rest of our lives together we can have some type of quality to our lives not just trying to get through each day. I know as I typed this I was leaving alot of things out but I just hit on the things that meant more to me.
P.S. He recieved a kidney transplant Oct 08.
