Kay's Story
Joined the USMC from 1983-1987, twas a trip, but I learned a lot (particularly drinking and belching), got out after one tour. After having learned that having a college degree can give you the power to make someone without a degree scrub your toilet, I went to U of M, got a degree in Creative Writing/English. Which means, of course, I now am a quality manager at a Tier I auto supplier. Got married, had two awesome kids, Cree (1996) & Emmy (1998), got divorced, then got married again last year (2008) to a redheaded guitar player who looks like he could be my brother. Let¿s not even pretend to ignore the Freudian implications, there. Heh. I have a farmhouse and a couple acres out in Van Buren Twp on a dirt road, and two rather porcine cats and one silly, smelly, unintelligent, fat, lovable beagle.

l help. So many books, so little time. I sing, play fiddle & guitar in a bluegrass band. So I¿m still a little on the juvenile/attention hog side, but it IS bluegrass music, a far cry from the Doors-worship days. It¿s fun, what can I say.
My kids are musicians in their own right: my son Cree plays piano, trumpet and guitar, and my daughter Emmy plays piano and saxophone. They are truly the most inspiring, uplifting, hilarious, intelligent folks I know. It¿s hard to believe, sometimes, that I had a part in their creation. They always say you want your kids to do better than you¿they have already far surpassed me, and they aren¿t even teenagers yet!
Have to say I don¿t miss the nightmarish hell known as high school, but I know I¿m probably not alone. I look forward to reuniting old friendships and maybe forming ones that shoulda-been back in the day.
