f Toronto, and a journalism degree at Dalhousie (King's College), I started as a reporter at the Truro Weekly News and eventually ended up as an editor at Canadian Press in Toronto.
Became a freelancer once kids came along. And after 20 years of writing news, I switched to my other passion - real estate. But I'm still involved in local politics - urban planning issues and advocating for affordable housing.
Growing up in Sackville was so enriching and gave me a respect for people from all walks of life. I love the folks back home. Ain't the same in Ontario. But at least we have lots of ferries, islands and big water here in Kingston. Recently a friend came back to Kingston after teaching a semester at Mount A. When I asked her how it went, she looked at me in amazement, and said, "The people there are so wonderful! They're so friendly!"
I almost burst into tears on the spot I missed everyone back home so much at that moment.
