Dear Lord, I remember the days
When a 202 was number one.
And my biggest prayer
Was a single shot shotgun.
Lord, I remember the smell
Of the water at the ramp.
How the air was crisp
And the dew on the seat made my butt damp.
I remember the dying leaves
And how my heart would race.
I remember the smell of Deet
From the repellent on my face.
Quit fidgeting, I still hear my dad say.
I remem...Expand for more
ber falling asleep
As our old boat would sway.
I remember my dad shooting a deer
With his old 30-30.
And Lord, how dragging that deer
Sure got me dirty.
How catching that big bass
Gave me a big smile.
And how at school
I was a hero for a little while.
You know God, for a minute
I'm that little boy again.
Remembering how my life
As an outdoorsman began.
These memories are all
Flooding back to me.
As I give my daughter
Her new 33.
Lord I believe
I'm starting her out right.
Teaching her to see
More than whats in sight.
I hope she smells
The water at the ramp.
I hope she gets a wet seat
And her butt gets damp.
I hope she
Gets really dirty.

My dad's 30-30.
