Keith's Story

Life A "bio" ... geesh!! Almost sounds like they want an obituary!! Trust me folks, this is no obit; neither is it a resume. So if you have more than a few minutes, read on ... appreciating the extemporaneous nature of what follows: After high school, I attended Lambuth University in TN. I was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, loved/hated all four years, made lifelong friends (as I did in high school) and finally graduated with a BA. It was then I entered teaching. I spent until 1980 teaching in VA; first in Northumberland County and then in King George County. My only regrets are that I couldn't remain close to all the friends/students I enjoyed along the way while teaching. Best years of my life! Afterwards, I went into the computer field starting with Houghton Mifflin. What followed was customer service, training adults, computer programming, management, etc, etc - very eclectic 25 years. I had found the best of all worlds. I was fortunate enough to be able to have traveled all across the country, living out of a suitcase for much of that time, but I met some of the most interesting (and boring) people I had the good fortune to learn from. Now, I'm trying ...Expand for more
to make ends meet in private consulting. It's okay, but just not the corporate umbrella I grew accustomed to. Throughout all those intervening years, my pets were German shephards, my cars were sporty or SUV's, my hobbies were photography, electronics, and absolutely anything that is/was possible with mini-computers and PC's. Okay, gardening and cooking crept in there somehow. Since the time when most of you knew me, I've done my share of partying (damn that was fun), learning to become a responsible adult, in and out of relationships, going from utter confusion to the occasional epiphany, etc. But I guess those same life passages have been a part of most of our experiences. My ideal fantasy right now would be to retire someplace in a hippie-like commune (five star rated, of course) surrounded by all the distant friends and loved ones I've encountered and will miss always. If I have learned anything throughout this sojourn, it's that time has its own agenda, and it carries us along for the ride of our life if we allow it. I have enjoyed it all and plan to continue with my glass half full philosophy. Will I ever update this "bio"? Perhaps, visit me again sometime.
