Keith Miller:

CLASS OF 1965
Coraopolis, PA
State college, PA

Keith's Story

Left Coraopolis for Penn State in 1965, but dropped out in 1967. Spent the next two years courtesy of Uncle Sam but skipped Viet Nam in favor of a year on the Korean DMZ. Returned to Penn State, and got a job working at a local radio station. That changed everything. After graduation in 1972 I took a radio job in Altoona, and married my college girlfriend. Moved on to WPGC in Washington DC in 1975, on of the nations biggest Top 40 outlets. The following year my son Jason was born. Relocated to WCAO in Baltimore in 1977, bought a small sailboat and in 1979 my daughter Megan was born. That same year I took over a morning show at WKTK in Baltimore, but quit when they fired my newsperson and replaced her with a young Robin Quivers. Yes the one from Howard Stern. I returned to Washngton DC and gave country radio a try. During my 10 year run at WMZQ I had the number one afternoon show in the city for 7 straight years, got my own country video show on local television, and even hosted two specials from Disney World in 11 cities around the country. I met most of country's biggest stars, and one or two actuallyi remembered my name. It was a magic time for me. But while work went fine, home life did not. My wife and I split in 1983, and later divorced. I became a weekend father. During this period a girlfirend and I, on a whim, decided to try a nude beach while on a Caribbean Cruise. We got hooked, and joined a local club 20 minutes from home. I know its wierd, but hey, why not. Well...Expand for more
the girlfriend and I split up, I dated a while and eventually married again, only to have things fall apart again in the early 90s when dispite good ratings, management let the entire staff go, thinking we were too old for country's new younger audience. I went through a few rough years working part time at several local DC and Baltimore stations. I finally ended up doing mornings at soft rock WGAY, and started dating Debra whom I had first met in 1983 at our local nudist club. I stayed with WGAY through two call letter and format changes, and eventualy departed radio in 2006. For the next few years I worked as a computer technician, kind of a spin off from my high school ham radio days. I'm now retired and living in Bowie Maryland not far from Annapolis. In case you are wondering I gave up sailing in the late 80s, but still get to the nudist club a few times a year. In fact I still come back to the Pittsburgh area every September for the worlds largest nude volleyball tournament. I still have my ham radio license as well, all thanks to Bob Stone. What a great guy he was. My son lives across town from me with his wife Jill, son Corey, and daughter Lindsey. My daughter, her husband Broderick and daughter Charlotte were in Ford City for some time, but are now in the Atlanta area. My wife has a son who also lives in the Atlanta area with his two chilren, his new wife and her three boys. Debra also has an adult daughter who lives with us in Maryland. So now you are up to date.
