CLASS OF 1973

Kellen's Story

I don't visit Classmates very often but I noticed folks stoppin by so I thought for the curious, why not leave a little time line on whats been goin on in my life. To start, 2 weeks after HS graduation I was off to Lackland Air Force Base for Basic Training. A couple months of tech training at Keesler Air Base in MS, then 3 1/2 years at Davis-Monthan Air Base in Tucson, AZ. The Air Force is where I was bit by the aviation bug. After being discharged (Honorably) I worked for a while at Caldwell Airport refueling airplanes. Graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Aeronautical Science and Aviation Management. Flight Instructed at Lincoln Park Airport near Caldwell, NJ. Shortly after my Teaching career I was movin up, Got lucky and was hired at Northeast Airways out of Morristown Airport flying Beechcraft Kingairs, Cessna 402's. Also did a night cargo contract for a year flying an assortment of other light twin engine airplanes starting in Morristown then Teterboro >>Norwood, MA >>Plattsburg, NY, then Buffalo, NY and back to Morristown. Thats where my flying skills were honed, flying at night by yourself in all kinds of weather. Moments of j...Expand for more
oy sometimes followed by moments of scarin yourself to death. My next job was at Ransome Airlines based out of Philly flying a DeHaviland Dash-7 STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) airplane, a four engine 50 Passenger commuter around the Northeast between Washington DC, NY Airports, Boston, Buffalo and every big city in between. great airplane, great job back then. Next was a job at PanAm flying as Co-pilot on Boeing 727, Mostly flew the PanAm Shuttle out of LaGuardia between Boston and Washington National because it was a blast, never boring. PanAm went out of business Dec 3, '91., Never forgot that ! Next job was machining/welding until I found another flying job. That one turned out to be Netjets Aviation Inc. Been there ever since currently flying who's who all over the world in a Bombardier Global 6000, the most sophisticated general aviation airplane out there. Being a pilot ya miss out on a lot, I think I've spent half my life in a hotel or buffett line somewhere around the world. Still the best job ever. My other life is being married with 2 adult children, (damn time flies) one of each. Its been a very interesting life to be sure. Thanks fer stoppin by
