Kelley's Story
Who am I, really? Let's see...that's a pretty good question, but in the whole scheme of things, do any of us know who we REALLY are?
After school, I worked, went to college for awhile, got married, had the most amazing daughter EVER!
I always worked in hotels as Managers of different stuff, 'cuz they're fun and I was, as they say, the wild party mom. My daughter was raised around artists, musicians and all those other beautiful freaks of the world. On the flip side, my EX husband was a...well whatever. So, she has seen a lot of different things, as have I, during my crazy travels.
I finally moved out of Texas, (YEA! and sorry) and now live in Hippie Mecca, Eugene, Oregon, which makes me so happy I could squeal.
I run a non-profit that helps try to get our communities more like they should be and not have our future completely screwed up, and I own a business that makes jewelry, paintings, clothes, etc.
So, that's the basics. Between all those different times were some of the most awesome times I've ever had. I've met some amazing people and I love what I am becoming. There's crazy times and sad times and euphoric times, and I cherish them all.
Now...I'm checking out this "story wizard" here and since some of the ideas are odd, I shall try to answer some of them:
1. What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?
I'm pretty sure my friends know
2. Sports. Reality TV. Pets. Share your obsessions.
I hate sports except for YouTube bloopers and really awesome soccer shots. I do, however like rugby and hockey. I HATE reality shows except TruTv, 'cuz it's not reality, it's actuality. I love Biography Channel, National Geographic, CARTOON network. I rarely watch "commercial" television, so other than the Sunday night line up on Fox, I can't help there. I love Japanese horror movies, pretty much hate "chick flicks", love Quentin Tarantino's stuff, Robert Rodriguez, Pang Brothers, Cohen brothers, Guy Ritchie, you get the picture. I adore, simply ADORE, music, music, music....live shows are my faves. I love strange music as well, I'm in love with Ween, Macy Gray, Shepherds Pi, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, any swing, Big band, rockabilly...etc. Klaatu, Dog Bowl, and I love the 70's. There's so ...Expand for more
many more...I really love psychedelic rock, alternative stuff and small up and coming bands.
3. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise?
Really? I think that pretty much answered itself.
4. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my basement and add on a cover for the hot tub. My dream home would be where I'm at right now.
5. Parent? Share what you've learned from your kids.
That unconditional love is not just a dream.
6. If I won $100 million, I'd give $98 million of it to charities, the homeless and sick, then spend the rest on my parents, travelling and hahahaha!
7. To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom?
With my family, travelling from place to place and trying to figure out the secrets of the world.
8. My best friend would tell you I'm CrAzY, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as eccentric.
9. Still dress like you did 10 (or 20) years ago? Talk style.
UMMMM no, that was the 80's and kinda sad in the fashion sense. I live in the Pacific northwest around a bunch of freaks and hippies. SO.....
10. What's the weirdest job you ever had?
I worked at wrestling when the Von Erichs were still around....
11. I share my home with my family and a million teenagers, which I find a bit unsettling.
12. You get one do-over. What do you do differently?
Pretty much nothing, or I wouldn't be who I am today. BUT, if I HAD to, I would have gotten divorced about 10 years earlier.
13. What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion?
That I was there.
14. My first job was at Sonic Drive Inn on Cooper, where I got paid what was minimum wage then? to give people greasy heart attack burgers and deliciously creamy shakes. What I remember most about it is Christi Ross!!!
So, here we are now 20 years later and it seems incredibly strange. When I think about High School, it seems like yesterday and a million years ago at the same time. All I know is that I had some good times, some bad times and some freaky times. I just hope that all of us that didn't really "know" each other but maybe didn't for whatever reason, generally the beautiful Hierarchy that is High School, can now.
PEACE!
