Kelli's Story

...After high school I went to Bryant & Stratton Business Institute where I earned a diploma in Travel and Tourism. My Mom passed away just before I graduated. Shortly after that I got a job as a Travel Agent. Left that and went back to college briefly at Tri-C studying Computer Science - Microapplications. Then I ended up moving down here to Texas. I got a job as the Executive Secretary for the Chief of Police and held that for over 9 years. During that time, I met the most wonderful man who completely loves and adores me. We are now married and have a wonderful Son who is now 16 years old. I never knew how wonderful being a Mom would be. It's the best (at least while they are little)! He's special needs (mild CP, ADHD, and ODD/DBD). While it's been a challenge, I love him to death. I worked in DSL Internet Tech Support after taking almost a year off to be home with our Son. Then I worked briefly as an Office Administrative Assistant until the economy forced the small business I was working for to downsize. I then worked in Customer Service until I was in a car accident. I'm now unable to work (TBI and spinal injuries). So, I spent time with our Son, homeschooling him for a few years, then returned him to Public Schools (I needed my sanity back), and with my hobbies (watching TV/Movies and Computer Games [Elder Scrolls Online, The Sims 4, Cities: Skylines, and Planet Coaster]. I also ran an Internet Radio Station called Moods of the Moon (on Live365 for over 14 years) featuring New Age/Instrumental music to help you relax (and not kill your annoying co-worker! LOL). The station shut down when new laws took away the exc...Expand for more
eptions for small broadcasters and made them pay the same royalty rates as large regular radio stations. I also got into jewelry design for a bit. But, after the accident, it's been difficult to return to it. In a recliner, all I can see is beads flying everywhere! LOL I will probably get back to it at some point (when I figure out how to do things in a reclining position and not have beads go flying). I've played with it a bit, doing small projects, but not on the scale that I was. I do make bracelets for the kids every Halloween, though. There is one creative craft I can easily do from my recliner: crocheting. My Mom had taught me how to crochet when I was young. Not that I remembered a whole lot. But, with the help of a book, I recaptured the art. Well, the very simple side of it at least. So far, I've made scarves for my Son and myself, as well as a couple of baby blankets for a friend's new baby. So... Life is good. Well, as good as it can get... =) The accident may have taken away my ability to sit upright in a regular chair and my ability to move around at will (I can still walk, just slowly), or stand for too long, but the things it can't take away... are my sense of humor (still just as sick, twisted, and warped as ever) and my young at heart spirit... I know the age that my birth date tells me I am... but I feel soooo much younger than that... Despite all the terrible things that happened in high school... the name-calling, teasing, ridicule, bullying... all that hate... I turned out pretty darn good... So, sorry if that disappoints you... NAH... I'm NOT sorry... Thank you for making me a stronger person! =)
